Fermentation Data Ranges by Feed Type

We have compiled a new summary of forage fermentation data which is available as a resource. This summarization is based on thousands of chemistry analyses across the last five years. These ranges are summarized by feed type and by dry matter range. Fermentation characteristics vary considerably based on the moisture at which the silage or grain was ensiled. It is not appropriate to compare a silage fermentation against a grand average. Target values are derived in part from fermentation characteristics of samples ensiled at what are considered “ideal” moisture levels where fermentations tend to be optimized.

These ranges and fermentation values are incorporated into our new report format for the “Fermentation AAL” option.
