More extensive fermentation analysis offered:

CVAS is now offering a more extensive fermentation analysis which includes alcohols, acetates, and lactates. We were the first forage laboratory in the U.S. to commercially offer a “fermentation analysis” package more than 10 years ago. In order to add additional diagnostic capabilities, we have expanded the fermentation evaluation. In addition to the traditional fermentation analysis (dry matter, pH, titratable acidity, ammonia, total VFA, lactic acid % VFA, lactic acid, acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid, iso-butyric acid, and 1-2 propanediol) we now provide the following:

- 1-propanol
- Methanol
- Ethanol
- 2-butanol
- Methyl acetate
- Ethyl acetate
- Propyl acetate
- Ethyl lactate
- Propryl lactate

Methods include:

- Ammonia and titratable acidity: titration
- Lactic acid: biochemistry analyzer
- Other constituents: gas chromotography(GC)

To request this package, ask for the “Fermentation Analysis + AAL”. This will cost an additional $10.00 above the cost of the traditional fermentation analysis of $22.50. A new report format is part of the “Fermentation Analysis + AAL” package which includes observed ranges and target ranges. An example of the new report format can be obtained from the following link.

As an introductory offer, samples sent in for “Fermentation Analysis + AAL” through the first few weeks of July 2011, will only be charged the traditional fermentation analysis rate.
